About Sheri

Sheri is a French hornist from Canada who has recently moved to the Wirral via Poland, where she lived for a number of years.  Sheri started on trombone in school but fell in love with the sound of the French horn not long after and made the switch. She finished a B.Mus.Ed. degree in Regina, where she was the principal horn of the South Saskatchewan Youth Orchestra and also played in the Regina Symphony Orchestra horn section. Then she moved to the USA to do a BFA in Performance in New York (SUNY Purchase), followed by a Master’s in horn performance at Boston University. There she studied with Martin Hackleman (Canadian/Empire Brass), as well as Jay Wadenpfuhl and Lyn Larsen (Boston Symphony Orchestra) and attended master classes with the Empire Brass at BU and Tanglewood. Her quintet, Cityside Brass, placed in the finals at the New York Brass Conference competition.

After returning to Saskatchewan, she played with another quintet, which represented their province at the Canadian National Music Festival, finishing third in the chamber music competition. Sheri worked for a year in a rural region as a regional choral consultant and private music teacher. She also served as a church music director in two churches and as a church music consultant in Poland.

Sheri has taught horn, trumpet, trombone, voice and music theory. She loves teaching and watching students of all ages make progress and discover a love for music. She believes lessons should be enjoyable and meet the needs of the student.
