Meet Alice

Saxophone, Flute, Recorder & Beginner Clarinet

Alice picked up the recorder at the very young age of just 4 years, before moving onto flute at 8. Alice then discovered the saxophone as a teenager, and she’s been playing ever since. With over 20 years of teaching already, Alice has vast experience in developing students at all levels, helping to nurture their own talent and interest in music, and unlocking their love of their instrument.

She trained at Liverpool Community College (HND, Music) before moving on to the prestigious Leeds College of Music, where she studied on the Jazz degree course. Alice loves performing and has extensive gigging and recording experience. She has toured across the country with jazz, classical, African, blues, and commercial bands, playing at festivals and venues of every size, as well as live sessions on the Janice Long show on BBC Radio 2.

In lessons, Alice has a very calm and warm nature. She is supportive, patient, and happy to work at your speed to meet your musical goals. If you don’t know what those goals are, that’s OK too; Alice can help you to find your passion and musical direction. She teaches students of all ages, abilities, and styles, and can guide students through Grades 1–8 in jazz or classical if that’s their goal, but she’s just as happy building lessons around whatever music the student actually enjoys and wants to learn. That’s why people want to learn in the first place.
